At Hørning, every floor begins with a tree – and every part of that tree has a story to tell. Our century of experience has taught us that nothing in nature should go to waste. By understanding the anatomy of the log, we transform raw timber into a full spectrum of flooring solutions, each with its own character, purpose and beauty.

The Heart of the Tree

At the very centre of the log lies the purest, most stable wood. From here we craft our planks – wide, elegant boards designed to showcase the finest qualities of oak, ash and other hardwoods. These are the pieces where nature’s strength and calm expression are most clearly revealed.

The Outer Rings

Moving outward, the tree offers us material for high-quality by-products. Our high-block parquet, for example, is made from sections closer to the outer rings. Once a by-product, this cut now forms expressive, dynamic floors that capture both efficiency and beauty. The same goes for our end-grain blocks, created from smaller cuts of the log and valued for their strength and striking appearance.

Castleplanks

From the top layer of wide planks, we also craft Castleplanks, which extend the tree’s natural character into versatile formats. These elements prove that design flexibility can live hand in hand with a respect for resources.
